Duo Mattu Oliviero

The Duo Mattu-Oliviero was artistically created in 2007. The violist Dimitri Mattu trained under the guidance of violist Piero Farulli from the legendary “Quartetto Italiano” and the pianist Angela Oliviero under the Neapolitan teachings of Vincenzo Vitale with Aldo Ciccolini. The Duo’s Repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary composers, some of whom have dedicated noteworthy pieces such as “Andalas” by Giacomo Medas, the world premiere being performed on an Italian and overseas tour of which a cd recording was made.

Many a concert has them as headliners. Further to playing in the main Italian cities, they are regularly invited to play and hold Master Classes in the most important cities in China, Hungary, Scotland and England.

They recorded a cd, on the Inviolata Recording Label and distributed by “Stradivarius”, with a repertoire entirely dedicated to Romanticism. The aforementioned being presented and broadcast on the RAI Radio 3 programme Primo Movimento. Besides the regular teaching activities that they perform as teachers at the Conservatory of Cagliari, various specialisation courses, either in individual instrument or Chamber Music, are held by them during the course of the year. Often playing together with their students thus aiding to communicate their enthusiasm and love for music, all of which distinguishes them individually and ultimately as the Duo.
